I've decided I've had enough of the OC9 MLII, it's just too mean and analytical.

Hi Chris - not sure on the latest (post-rise) prices, but think the EL was around £350, the SL £550.

Ha Ha . I've heard that said quite a few times. Some like them though. See if you can get a listen to a ZYX R50 Bloom.

Thanks, yes I've heard the Zyx at Paul's (rfc) very nice indeed, hell I think I'll listen to anything, just need to get away from the OC9 sound, it's impressive don't get me wrong but oh so cd like, in fact it's more like cd than cd lol

The Lyra's can be a bit like that too. Not as much as the OC9 though.

There again. My ZYX R100 2H is about as ruthlessly revealing as a Decca, but not peaky. Has to be given a little system matching thought.

You know what I'm going to say if CD impresses less I'm certain it's because of speaker issues (passive crossovers are the absolute pits, even Harbeth ones!!!). Yeah, I know the OC9 is a bit relentless and I remember how much beefier the ancient OC30 was. I could be totally wrong, but I believe the OC30 DNA is now in the 33PTG, but could be totally wrong here. My beef with ZYX is that they seem to have doubled in price? in the last ten years. Ask HiFi Dave, as he knows the ZYX intimately and will always 'look after' AOS members.

Hi Dave, I wouldn't say I was unhappy with my cd playback, I have living voice Avatars, quite revealing of anything hard or relentless I would say though.

Millions of people all over the world manage to live with them. I've heard some extremely good speakers with passive crossovers.
