Sound and vision come out of the cable box through one scart and into the TV, that works fine. The second scart is connected from cable box to AUX on the amp and should also transmit sound. But either it isn't, or something else is wrong. Might try swapping the amp but it works on the tuner input so that rules out the speakers and the speaker connections as the problem and probably the amp too.

Checked all the settings on the cable box, no joy there either.

Have you confirmed this in the manual for the cable box? What make/model is it? The reason I ask is that my old box had two SCARTS - one was for output to the TV but the other was an input for a VCR or similar. The idea being that the box could plug between your existing VCR and TV if the TV only had one SCART input.

If this is the case, you might need a SCART to SCART lead with audio breakout. Failing that, it is worth double checking the cable box settings menu even though you're getting video - audio and video are often two separate options that both need to be set correctly.

I have had it working this way before hence my confusion that it doesn't work now. The box is made by Samsung. I suppose I could try swapping the scarts at the cable box, maybe the two scart sockets are different and will only work one way round?

Nah, that's way too radical a concept, innit?

Seriously though dude, hope you get it sorted soon, as I know how much joy a well-sorted HC system can bring to one's life...

Chances are if you have 2 scart sockets one will be an input and one an output.

Isn't a scart a 2 way cable? Maybe not. Anyway I have had this working before, all the kit is the same. Just makes no sense.

I like to hoard Some of this stuff is better than an ISA for investment purposes. (Well maybe the turntable collection and the Krell).

It will get sorted at some point. Might have that put on my headstone I think.

Lol, no worries... Btw, I spoke to Anthony about your Techy CDPs, and he said he'd fix them for you no worries. So maybe next time I'm down at your place I could take them away and get them done for you?
