Some company in the states was building bikes with 8 litre Dodge Viper engines, but the GS500 will do me just fine.
I don't want silly fast or big. I do want air cooled engine, easy maintenance, lowish weight, reasonably low seat and easy handling.
As long as I can leave four wheeled stuff behind, chuck it around bends confidently and cruise at say 80/85 mph, I'll be happy.
I'll likely only be doing about 1000 miles a year on it if I do buy it (got two cars and a small bike to use already).
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
Youve already got 2 ffs. Is this a midlife crisis?![]()

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?
“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Just tried the diesel version of this in the Brabster:
Details: http://torcoracefuel.net/pro-accelerator-info.html Diesel version here: http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/ProdShop2.asp?id=9617
Adding half a bottle to a tank, which was three quarters full of my usual Shell V-Power Nitro+ diesel, I took the car onto the local dual carriageway, and on the entrance slip-road, which is a long straight incline, about 500M long, I accelerated hard and instantly noticed more 'shove', low-down in the rev range, and eagerness for the engine to pull harder. Acceleration seemed quicker and also more effortless.
Great fun... Driving further onto the dual carriageway, and putting my foot down on the straight and largely empty road in front of me, resulted in reaching the legal speed limit (70mph) notably quicker than I've ever managed it before, so adding this "race fuel concentrate" to the car's fuel system really does put a tiger in your tank!
I intend to continue using the Torco for the next few months and see if I can notice any further longer-lasting benefits. Highly recommended for car enthusiasts keen on releasing maximum performance/latent potential from their engines
Marco.

Geoff you really should also consider the Honda Hornet 600... the 'S' version has a small fairing which keeps the worst of the wind off as well
I know it's not air cooled but they are such a hoot to ride. I've had 2 of them and they are just lovely. They have a fairly low seat height but, of course, I needed it even lower so had the seat cut down as I'm such a short a**e
Cruising at 80/85 on a Hornet is like a walk in the park...
Had my last Hornet upto about 130... but don't tell anyone![]()

I have considered the Hornet Bev, but it's not what I want. It's not huge, but is a bit of a lump compared to the GS500. I'd sooner have the more compact Suzuki SV650 for the same sort money, but the simplicity of the GS500 appeals more. I can maintain it myself without any headaches, 'cos it's dead easy to work on and it's quick enough for my needs. I've had one before.

I know what you mean Geoff
I guess the GS500 is more like the Honda CBF500 or Kawasaki ER-5
