There are some really nice sounds to be had from vintage continental drivers. Not tried Telefunkens, but had Philips, Peerless, Audax, Saba and Isophon vintage alnicos and others.

8" units above? Looks a good job, how are the units wired? I ran Golden 10" full range Wharefdales many decades ago, but decided that they were better with some tweeters.

No they are same drivers.. 10 inch. they are wired in series. they are telefunken L242's dont see many, as I have most of the ones I ve seen for saleIve 7 in total
Ive a set of rola celestion 12 inch in boxes too. they are nice as well, and a set of old Fane 8 inchers in smaller boxes..

I suppose you did that to get 8 Ohms. Parallel connection can cancel out some peaks in the response, I guess that you probably know this already, Briggs book.No they are same drivers.. 10 inch. they are wired in series. they are telefunken L242's dont see many, as I have most of the ones I ve seen for sale
I have tried some Philips units, all seemed good apart from a dome midrange, too cardboardy sounding, Audax too.

Well actually they are less than 3 ohm nominal each although probably average out at about 5.. the 2 in series give just under 6 ohms nom. they are extremely efficient at about 100db but only 8 watts. Dont really need more than a few to sing loud and true. Get the reflex box right and they are fabulous speakers and have ousted by far all others Ive heard. (for me anyways)
got some alnico Philips drivers here.. they aint in same league.. not sure what model though

I had a set of these a while back:
From the US. University (subsidiary of Altec) Diffaxial 312 drivers. 12" twin cone plus concentric phenolic dome tweeters & alnico mags all round.
They sounded amazing, but needed boxes that were just too huge for my environment. Shame.
