It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Lucky really , as a farmer ,you tend to be a jack of all trades (and master of none so they say) but you tend to turn your hand to anything going ,instead of specialising !!

Mind you ,I am getting a bit longer in the tooth now , to be changing , more time off would be nice !! A bit more metal detecting / plane hunting

I quite fancy a bit of metal detecting myself. I used to know a girl whose granddad had a farm that had a Roman road going past it. Tried to get her to convince him to let us do it but he wasn't keen. Figured we might at least find a few coins and that.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.

Ha , no !! I have a couple of old boys from the Wirral that have covered most of the farm. They found a Charles penny 1802 , on an old access road down to the canalside. That was nice as it dates to the same time they were digging the cutting throught the back of the farm at that time , when the canal was being built!! Mind you ,its barely readable!! Nothing Roman just a couple of lead loom weights , and a small goat bell.

Most of my detecting is looking for WW2 crash sites ,which is interesting , as we had a lot of trainer aircraft ploughing in hereabouts and the luftwaffe were forever going over in the early yrs on their way to bomb Liverpool Docks .

Dont get much of anything where i am. Romans didnt hang about here long. Nor did the war tbh. We had a ww1 hospital nearbye and the odd ww2 bomb got dropped by accident but thats about it . A lot of pre roman stuff up hills like burial sites. Cairnpapple is a big important one. Early silver mining too, and an early royal castle that Robert Bruce gave to his daughter on her marriage to Walter high steward of Scotland. Nothing left of it and theres a golf course on top so you cant go digging lol

I keep toying with the idea of getting a Crown permit for the foreshore. There are some interesting sites I know of and I've got a basic metal detector that seems to work well enough. Permits are free, you just have to register.

Would be fun Geoff. Need to move fast with tide though, and maybe a bit on the muddy side. Saw timeteam do one on Thames. Think it was an old wood post. They were sinking and only had a few hrs at a time to work.
