The logo on the boxes is the one used in the eighties.

Many years ago I had some KEF B200's reconed by KEF, they wrote REC on a label stuck on the chassis.

So some Reds, admittedly nice, in some boxes, not NIB, used and reconed. Not quite the impression the listing gives...

"Sharper eyes" perhaps not, maybe a larger computer monitor, because my eyes are the opposite of sharp!

Looks a bit like one crossover has a different shade of paint on compared with the other. But as mentioned, it looks like no paint off the speaker chassis where bolts would go. Perhaps these were complete rebuilds with chassis repainted.

I don't have massive experience with Classic Tannoys, but about 40 years ago I inherited a pair of 12" Silver corner Chatsworths form an uncle, who had bought them new. These were fabulous units, improved by fitting in larger cabinets. I bought a second pair of Silvers that were in perfect condition, but they were older production, seemed to have a lighter cone and slightly stiffer suspension. These never sounded as good as my uncle's ones. Bass extension was not as good, midrange was more coloured and treble not as extended. I then bought a pair of 12" Golds, they were not bad at all but did not match the magic of uncle's, probably late Silvers.

Later years, I bought a pair of re-foamed HPD315's (Alnico magnet ones), these remind me more of my uncle's Silver more than the others units. I still have the HPD 315's and the empty Corner Chatsworth cabinets. Any thoughts of how the HPD's would be in those old cabinets?

Why am I writing this, I suppose it's that I believe that there may be different versions of the 12" Silver with quite different sonic properties.
