    So tempted by this Decca SC4E (the ultimate Decca?). But I musn't, 'cos it needs a rebuild and I can't splash out another £500.

    Comparatively Barry, but it showed surface corrosion on the iron parts, which no doubt extended to the internals and the diamond tip didn't look right to me. So if I'd bought it I'd have needed to send it to John Wright for a refurb and then I'd have wanted a line contact tip on it. Hence the £500 I quoted.
