Hmm. The same sort of thoughts have been crossing my (limited) mind. I've an ancient Lenco L68 with no arm sitting there doing nothing. The motor has good torque. Looks ideal for the job. I've also got a compact 12v vacuum pump spare. Could be suitable ingredients?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
