I suspect these might be quite good:

I've never heard any (perhaps someone here has?), just remember some good press at the time.

What a dick! (not you, the seller )
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Not imo. I think it's priced very fairly. It was Kenwood/Trio's flagship integrated of the mid 70's. Superb build quality and a very fine sounding amp. Moreover, they're pretty hard to find in this country. How much would an equivalent Pioneer or Sansui go for? Please have a read of the USER tab on it's Vintage Knob page where there's lots more info and some gorgeous nudie pics.

Good amps those although I wouldnt give 600 for it. 400 would be reasonable to me.. They are lovely amps visually imo

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

At Subjective Audio until the mid 1980s I sold at least six pairs of these. I never had a failure and never had them traded in for something 'better'.

No, the designer Mike Stephenson did not develop them with valve amps as the seller claimed. Mike used a Meridian 101b/105 amp combination. His reference point were the Meridian M1 actives. He voiced his designs to as closely reflect the sound of those.

Funny how things go. Twenty or more years ago, largish Japanese amps were £15 boot sale fodder (as were LS3/5a speakers surprisingly).

I agree. £400 seems about right. Nearly everything from that Trio (Kenwood outside the UK to avoid confusion with the kitchen equipment company) is worth considering, e3specially the FM tuners. Many of the then Trio design team eventually migrated to Accuphase.

If you thought that guy was a dick, check out this listing for Goodman's speakers. Words fail me.
