Just got home and unloaded my gear, think we all had a great day. Excellent banter, fabulous sounds and worth the effort for Steve's air guitar alone! Nice mix of new faces and regulars. Great to meet you all.
Hope all travelling have a safe journey home and there'll be pics tomorrow. Now to bed.
One of these days... I'm going to cut you into little pieces.
Truly horrendous bike ride home in torrential rain... can you claim under the trades description act for "water proofs"?
Great day though and nice to put faces to forum aliases and to meet Marco and the Scottish Mafia!
Problems ensued through the mains being 228V on the day! I'll let others add to that..
Highlight? Sorry can't remember who owned them but the Linkwitz open baffle speakers with (AFAIK) digital active crossovers pretty much trounced everything else... My own contribution in the form of my new prototype phono stage unfortunately didn't seem overly synergistic with the only system it was tried in and there was only one turntable with a MC present... It sounded stunning here the night before so not sure if it was the very low mains or just an unfortunate matching of equipment...
Lovely to see some old faces and meet some new ones and a HUGE thanks to Steve (Progmiester) for organising the event... even enjoyed the "special interest" music
I had a wee continuation of events at my friends place (the one who wouldn't come along to nebo even though he lives 1/2 a mile away... bit agoraphobic). Anyone heard of an Australian valve amp maker called Melody Audio? Very nice indeed! Built like a brick shit house and sounded really nice. speakers were interesting to. He had finally built something with the Goodmans Axiom drivers he had in storage from new for the last 45 years... I was surprised to say the least at the sound of these. I expected them to be total crap but they were actually most impressive! They really need a tweeter, even though they are full range drivers, and we sorted out some ex Castle Acoustics tweeters and discussed crossover requirements. He's going to add them on an open baffle above the main cab. Went away with pockets full of valves and nice binding posts![]()
