Thanks to Pete (clarkey555) for the great Rega Brio R. We had a few issues with the courier (no-ones fault other than the courier's) but Pete was in constant communication letting me know what was going on. The amp is sounding beautiful and is absolutely mint as described in the ad.

I got it pretty tight at about 5th attempt and i dont see how you could get it much tighter and still get it on tbh. its problem is it doesnt give at all. It spun the sub platter but not the main one as there is insufficient grip. Might work on a lighter tt platter.

I don't know if this is the right place for a reply, hope it is.
Of course a silk braided thread cannot have the same grip of a flat rubber one, but has enough to make its duties.
Anyway it is difficult for me to understand how it can spin the subplatter but not the main one of a Thorens TD160.
Maybe it is a way to say that the main platter does not rotate at the right speed?

If that is the issue, probably the belt is too tight or too slack.
Don't think it's a matter of main platter weight, as that same silk thread moves correctly my 5 kgs. Kuzma Stabi S platter, plus a heavy 800 grams high density graphite clamp.

Sometimes a silk belt could not have the grip to start the platter, but when its lenght is right has enough to keep the right speed when it is moving.
So the start can be given by hand instead of using a switch.
This means start the platter by hand, something able to prolong the life of any belt, switch on the motor and then wait a few seconds for the speed to stabilize.
It seems a minor cost to pay to have the level of improvement in sound performance given by a silk belt.

In the manual I send to every purchaser, it is stated that before trying the silk it is useful to make some practice using sewing or dental thread.
In this way one can also be accustomed to the kind of improvement involved with a belt not made with rubber.
I followed this advice and maybe this is the reason I had not to struggle so much when I passed to the surgical silk.

Anyway, when it is felt that the grip is not enough, a car belts spray can be used or otherwise ravelling a bit the belt with the edge of a metal nailfile to improve its dragging properties.
These can be useful suggestions, but neither has been needed to start the platter and clamp of my Kuzma and get it quickly enough to the right speed as shown in my video.
The motor of the Kuzma TT is not so powerful, it is just the same Premotec used by regular Rega's.

So, maybe I wouldn't say it is a PITA, but just a kind of tweak that needs some more patience and application to obtain the wanted results than the easiest ones, like putting pin points under a CD player.

Yes, there is.
It is possible to make a belt of the correct lenght just placing the sample one in an open hand, at the tip of the fingers.
Otherwise a more comfortable way is to use a wood board and two nails.
Hammer one nail on the woodboard, place the rubber belt on it and pull it with two fingers until it is tensioned, but not strained at all.
Place the second nail two or three millimeters back than the tensioned belt would say.
In this way a template is made, place and tension the silk on it, then make the knot.
Leaving a needle in the knot make things easier if the lenght is not the right one.
