Sweet Smell of Success, starring Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis in a brutal expose of the gutter press. 'Match me, Sidney'. Also featuring the Chico Hamilton Quintet.

Doctor at Large (1957) starring Dirk Bogarde, Donald Sinden and James Robertson Justice, with Muriel Pavlow as the totty.... A classy caper with some everlasting lines.

No sleep so now watching or re watching VICTIM from I think 1961 starring Dirk Bogarde, Dennis Price and Sylvia Syms. A lawyer gets blackmailed over his gay leanings. Remember it was both illegal and imprisonable in those days so a blackmailers money tree.
    Fortunately the law saw sense

    Default THE VISIT

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmen...-of-the-visit/

THIS ONE IS A MUST SEE!!

Why is it a must see?
Because it's the best thriller I have seen in years, no gore and guts just a realistic drama that seriously freaks you out.
It's an original idea not a poor copy of a foreign film or worse,a good 3 day book made into a one hour movie, it's also not a sequel and the actors aren't predictable Hollywood elites whose faces we all know making the whole thing seem fresh and more real.

The Great Escape (1963) starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson etc. Super film, based on a true story. Watching the Blu-Ray version

Seeing Steve McQueen riding a late fifties Triumph motorbike supposedly during WW2 rather spoiled the film for me. Never liked Attenborough in anything either.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

They use a 1970s tank in 'A Bridge Too Far' - it jars but it doesn't spoil the film. It was much harder to resource the authentic item back then. Plus it is not exactly the worst historical error in the film. If you want to get picky

Contextual accuracy and continuity are critical. I pick up on all the mistakes relating to machines. Planes, bikes and cars, etc. Many US movies featured Japanese two stroke bikes and of course the yanks always played a recording of a big four stroke Harley on the soundtrack. What crap!

Planes too. On occasion you see a plane taking off in a film and you (or at least I) know that it's a piston engined job and you hear a gas turbine sound. Again, crap!

Recent Kia car commercials have had a car zooming about to the soundtrack of a beefy V6 engine and I know for a fact the thing has a piddly little four cylinder motor.

Yes. I am pickier than most! And probably a bit more technically minded with machinery.

Paul (2011) stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogan as the voice of Paul. Not really a fan of Pegg n Frost but I love this film, even it it got fairly poor revues.
