But the short story on which it is based ("We Remember It For You Wholesale") is so much better. I don't care how much money the studio made, I don't think the screenplay was good, whereas the screenplay for 'Blade Runner' was excellent.Originally Posted by struth

I thought the more recent remake much better as a film but as I haven't read the story I don't know if its closer to the original story or not.

The various versions (seven of them!) are discussed here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner. For what it's worth, I prefer the latest, final 'ultimate' director's cut, but my ideal version would be the footage of the 'ultimate' version with the voice-over of the original theatre version.
