Too true mate.... but because of the good ones a lot of the not so good get hyped up price wise causing people to get the wrong idea and rubbish all of them. I think Tannoys have suffered more from this than most brands alas. My ones are pretty good thanks to a good driver but there are a few models very similar that use other drivers and sound crap in comparison.

    Yes indeedy.

You also get the ignorant and uninitiated rubbishing them, when they've never heard good ones in the right context, or worse, heard some ropey ones, once, 30 years ago in some piss-poor system, and subsequently make all sorts of remarks about them, which bear no relation to the reality, when they're optimised and used in the right system.

Not to worry, you just smugly laugh at those clueless idiots!

you need an open mind when trying major hifi components if you are going to get what you really like, and not what the internet brigade say you should like.

I certainly enjoyed it when I heard it, especially your T/T, which at that stage was quite a bit ahead of your digital sources. The playing field may have been levelled there since, though!

Not true, my Akais have shiny dustcaps on 2 of the supertweeters. Although I'm possibly the only person who thinks they are decent...
