I'm wondering if I've not flashed the SD card properly. Would the ethernet port light up if there was not an operating system installed correctly?

The Pi2 finally arrived on Friday.
Got it to boot with PiCorePlayer in no time using a micro SD nicked from my daughter's mobile phone.
Left it to play Radioparadise over the night.
Hooked via USB into an STA326-based Chinese FDA/DDA - The Pi2 is sounding very very good indeed already today.

Will try with CII later..and hopefully the result will go up a few more notches.

As we are flashing the SD cards from a preconfigured image file it is likely that the image was not written correctly to the SD card or the RPi is faulty.

Had nothing but problems loading Moode ... when it finally did work it was flakey at best and often missed out bits of the graphic interface on reboot. Sticking with the Volume/IQaudio image for now, works like a charm and steady as a rock.
Might download a new Moode image and try again at some point.

My testing gave me some issues with Volumio, Roone was unusable and Moode performs for me with no issues.

Ah yes that would explain it. If it's enabled, even if your audio is at the same rate, SoX/SRC will still resample so the setting of the sample rate converter will still come into play. If it's disabled then what gets to the DAC is what comes in, which is what I am sticking with now. Curiously though, with upsampling disabled, I can no longer play DSD files, but for the amount of DSD I have, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I seriously need to give this Naim CDi back, because it's made me start missing CDs, which is perverse considering I never really liked them anyway! Figure that one out!

That's what people used to say about vinyl - never liked it, pain in the arse, so I sold it all and moved on to CD. Then they realise they miss the extra large physicality of vinyl. You may find yourself enjoying the physicality of CD again after going to FBA.

what's the total power draw for the Pi2 and iqAudio dac, must be getting close to the 100mA that the Lidl supply can put out?
