The AMS8 is quite old now and predates the System 8 DMT and the rather nice System 800. If I'm not mistaken the driver in the AMS8 is a commercial version of the DC8 unit, a speaker that I didn't like. I found it rather flat, dull, two dimensional and a bit coloured.

Get them on short stands Grant. The bass will clean up. Sturdy milk crates with a board on top will work, you can hide them with a piece of fabric.

I agree that they would benefit from raising up a few inches. I could also try the sandbag way. there is a flap on the bottom to fill them with ags to stablise the bass a tad...maybe I will do both . at moment I am enjoying the kefs with this new amp.

    Sounds like a good idea.

Glad the amp is working out well. I thought it would.

I like the functional look of that. No tarting up with bling to make it look fancy. I bet it's good.

I am on the look out for a System 800 but I won't be paying the £425 asking on eBay at the moment as they generally go for £300'ish... at that price I would buy a pair to try... I still have a sneaky suspicion that my Heresy's would still sound better but I am prepared to try some Tannoy's..

There are also a pair of System 8's on the bay at £399... any good ???
