    That misplaced insert appears to be the Wellington Town Hall. Built in the early eighties it includes a wonderful auditorium for symphony concerts. Not only that, but you can feel safe at it is built on 'seismic plates'. At an underground level the steel base rests on steel foundations. The idea is that in an earthquake it will rock a lot but there is nothing to snap.

    My interest is more in the recordings than someone declaring that they are playing them today and I much prefer to see a pic of the actual record someone has because, particuarly with classical music, there are often quite a number of versions of the same recording and also differences in sleeves. So I decided to stop posting on the spinning today thread. Quite why do you have a problem with that I don't know but in future I'll post on classical recordings elsewhere.

    I don't have a problem with it at all, Andy. You do whatever you like. However, up until your last post I couldn't quite understand why you no longer wished to post on this thread.

    Now that you've provided a proper explanation, I do. It makes perfect sense now. Essentially, it's about being clear, rather than somewhat vague (as you were when you first announced your intentions)...

    Harpsichordist Pieter-Jan Belder. quite probably my favourite player on the instrument - such life and vivacity, amazing sound he produces. And the sq is top notch.

    Stravinsky early symphony Op. 1 - pure Russian romanticism, nothing like his later work! He composed it as a student in his early 20s.
