Well another post Scalford change, all though it was planned but only picked up the speakers at the show.
The Regas have gone out on loan and I have taken delivery of some lovely Tannoy Sirling HEs.
I have wanted to try some bigger Tannoys for a good while but never really been able to afford a pair of the newer prestige range, and these Stirlings came up at a great price.

The plan is to run them with the B60 initially, then try them with the B60 (Pre) and Decware Zen (Power) and see how I get on!

When I got them in from the car last night, the gf said they looked really nice, prefered them to the R9s. Was not expecting that although she is not that fussed really about the looks or sound, I have sort of taken over the living room.

She thinks they look a bit old and boring with the grilles on and much better with them off, I might re-do the grille fabric with something off white to match the magnolia walls, thats if they stay long term

I've heard a pair of these sounding great with Densen amplification.
It might be worth trying if you get the opportunity.

I think they look super without the grills, but, I'd agree that they are old fashioned styling.

They are certainly very different to the Regas. I don't think they go as deep as the R9s but seem to have a lot punchier, if slightly 'thumpy' mid bass, I need to play around more with positioning.

There is that Tannoy treble presence, which is an advantage giving vocals some bite, and some sibilance in the lower treble that seems to show on female vocals, only small though.

Makes me realise how balanced and smooth the R9s are (as also commented by a fair few people at the show last weekend).

They do however have better dynamics, and reasonably more efficient, going by the volume control position as a rough guide.

Will be a bit of fun though

I think they look nice. Is that the same driver as the Turnberry?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
