Ultrasonic cleaners just sort the surface, they are much more effective with clearing dirt out of jewellery mountings like with engagement rings. Don't use an ultrasonic cleaner with heavily included (black stuff inside the stone) diamonds or other stones that aren't ruby or sapphire or your wife may find she cracks a stone!
They also need water to work (turn it on without and it'll die after time), so unless you want to submerge your cartridge it's not got any real HiFi application LOL!
