And it was due to it being wrapped in bubblewrap and a softgrade box opened and wrapped around it rather than a strong, rigid box. The fact that it weighs so much didn't help.

Yesterday I informed the seller and his response was very helpful. He mentioned mine was one of two parcels sent by Hermes and both had arrived damaged. He said he wanted me to be happy with my purchase and offered a full refund if I wanted to return it or a partial refund if I want to keep it, which I do, before I mentioned it. Haven't been able to get back to him with ebay being unavailable today.

Worked on the cover with Duraglit yesterday and got an improvement over what it was like, but it still requires a lot more work. Will also have to come up with some way to disguise the split down one side of the cover and the crack on the other side. Thought of making a frame of speakercloth for it or some boarder design.

    P.S.
Geoff, is the underside of the platter damped? Mine has some residue suggesting it was. And do you use the original mat? I can photocopy the manual or send it to you if you would like to scan it.
Well, thinking the seller would keep to his word regarding some sort of refund, I left positive feedback to maintain his 100% record. And after sending pictures of the damage, he has not replied.

After looking at the cover I found a load of small fractures and didn't think it was worth further work so I bought one from iconic-audio. For £37 inc. postage, it seemed the obvious thing to do.

    Haven't decided on feet yet.

I'll take it if someone can post it to me :| I think it's local collection only? The turntable only, not the speakers :>

I have one of these and you won't believe the sound this thing produces... just a magnificent fantastically built equipment.

Apparently, these AR6 speakers have "way better performance than any speaker you can buy today at any price". What a load of kingsize bollox.

Does this goon really believe that? Oh, and they were not "made to order". They were a regular production model that cost about the same as the KEF Cadenza and Goodmans Magnum K2.

Knowing the AR6, I'd say that unless they've been repaired the frail foam surrounds will be on their last legs.

(I see these are in Wrexham. Hope it's not a chum of Marco's listing )
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
