My brother in law had one of these in the 70's early 80's. He worked for PYE and was able to get Philips stuff at a good price. I seem to remember that the whole of the arm and platter floated together (i.e some kind of suspension system?). I am afraid I can't really recall how it sounded as I only heard it once or twice and it would depend on what it was used with as to whether it sounded any good or not. However he did have some Lowther speakers with 2 drive units, one angled at 45% facing rearward.

Reasonably decent sound quality but ridiculously bouncy suspension. Not worth £50 IMHO.

Not quite ebay but I was just in Oxfam in Wokingham this lunchtime and saw a pair of Tannoy Bradleys for £425, in very nice nick complete with all (intact) grilles, badges and matching solid wood speaker stands.

They run 3128 12in dual concentric drivers, so should sound pretty decent. Will need a few watts up them but a Quad 405 or upwards should be ample.

Nice speaker that shouldn't need any fettling like a really old vintage one would. Pricey in their day (mid 80s IIRC).

    Just like these ones:
