If it was something simple (like a blown fuse or a component in the crossover) then it would be worth the punt, but if it is a fault with one of the panels then that would far more serious and repair probably beyond the capabilities of the average DIYer.
Hope the buyer manages to fix them: I've always had a soft spot for Magnaplanar speakers.

Class A bargain amps. A pair of Monarchy Audio SM-70 Pro power amps. Use for bi-amping or as monoblocks. I have one driving my Tannoys and it really sounds superb!! In sound terms, at the price, nothing will come close to these.

The thick end of three grand delivered and lets face it Brooklyn is a bit of a drive if you want to collect in person but they are supposed to be one of audio's 'holy grails'.
