Its actually not as big a change as you would imagine, the SCM10s are much smoother than the newer Entry range (SCM7/11/19) and the Rega R7 and R9 are much smoother than the R1/R3/R5s IME too.
There is a lot deeper bass than the SCM10s as to be expected too.

Bit of an update, no real change, added a Trichord Dino (mk1) back in August but no real desire to change since getting the Regas back in June

Done a bit of playing around with placement of the speakers, moved them out a bit since the photo which has actually lowered the depth of the bass as I had the bass ports plugged before when they were nearer to the wall.

Only other change was a new laser for the S9000ES, it was skipping with most CDs or not reading them at all, it had not read DVDs at all for a good while. Now I have done it, its a 5 min job and the S9000ES is like new, still excellent on DVDs (picture, for the age and sound). I was looking at possibly a new CDP/DVD player but now the S9000ES is back, its all good!

I may well look again at more Passive room correction (GIK Panels etc) as well as possibly DSP via the MiniDSP module again.

The Tannoy Chesters' are in the loft awaiting a refurb and the Keesonic Kolt and Decware Zen are both out on long-term loan to a couple of (another) forum members.

Honestly, its not a big room, about 16ft square with a small kitchen cut out of it.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
