LOL Rich yeah its becoming a bit of an obsession, though I did actually sell a R2R to Neil last month so thats one less
I havent told the wife Ive got these 2 new ones comming yet , she thinks Im potty.
Thing is though I do use the Tascam a lot cos I love the sound of it and parts for them are like rocking horse sh*t so I had to have them and I would gladdly sell all the other's and just keep the Tascams
Now if a Studer A812 were to come along I would be very tempted by that

Did you see the article on Analog Planet from Mike Fremer having learnt that a real to real tape machine is going back into manufacture soon?

I recon to make a tape deck now will cost a fortune though, guess I will just have to keep buying good old ones

I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

No its just a Farnell unit, LesW from Avondale loaned me it and it did a fine job but I have replaced with a dual channel OWON 1022 which is also great
Im gradually buy all the gear I need for calibration, not sure if I need a true RMS meter ?.

Finally got round to picking up the 2 Tascam BR20s from my Ebay purchase
One is just a playback machine and was used to edit interviews, this was filthy but tape heads still very good
The full record playback machine is in mint condition and has virtually no wear on the tape heads that I can see so it has had very little use from new , they have both been in storage for approx. 5 years, only bumber is the missing knobs on one machine

I cleaned them up and calibrated them and they both play very nice music indeed, very please particularly with the unit in the photo below

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
