I sort of know what you mean - but I've had some great bits of American kit - Perpetual Technologies, Audio Research, DK Design, Faroudja, Zu Audio, MG-1 Airbearing tonearm. I think some of their stuff is made with a care and attention which demands respect. Much isn't, of course.

OTH - I've driven American cars and eaten American food. Neither paragons of quality!

Why anybody would boast that either was made in America defeats me. I recall being pleasantly surprised at finding a car in the US which would go around corners and come out facing the direction it entered them (the new Camaro) only to discover that the underpinnings were Australian!

    Hi Peter,

Yup, but before anyone accuses me of being anti-American, especially our hundreds of American friends registered here, who are a big part of our community, it's only the 'American' style of delivery sometimes, by salesmen or magazine hacks selling things, that 'grates' somewhat on me.

Otherwise, there are many things I love (and envy) about America and American people - and not just some of the superb hi-fi equipment they produce!

    Marco.

Ok - following the deserved rebukes - I have now listened to it all the way through (and there is some interesting stuff in there) but still couldn't get ZZ Top out of my head - come to think of it did they not do a song called "Sharp Dressed Man"?
