The thing is, for power amps I'd be wanting a power supply of the calibre of, say, Paul Hynes' SR-7 or similar. Add the cost of one of those with a pair of Hypex modules and the Red Dragons are starting to look not at all expensive for what they offer. And while I could build a power amp using modules no problem (hell, I've built amplifiers from component parts and made my own circuit boards), I could not attain the kind of build quality or finish of a good commercial product.
If I ever get a chance to try the Red Dragons, I will jump on the opportunity.

I had a Hypex N400 amp in my system, with a JFET input stage. It was a prototype, but it was bloody good.

Boxswap update!
here's my system as of now ....
The box on the left ready for shipping is the Chapter Audio Couplet 250S amp about to be sent off to its new owner in The Netherlands.
The original Wigwam owner suspected it would be "too refined" for me, and after an initial honeymoon period that has sadly turned out to be the case. It's not quite snappy and 'present' enough for my unsophisticated tastes. It's just a teensy bit boring in my system, for me.
So -- just peeking out from behind the Jolida DAC on the right is an Amptastic Mini-T.
Let me tell you, the system has regained its old and much loved 'palpable presence' and I am revelling in my music once again.
The wee fella does seem to need a top notch active pre-amp, like my Restek, to give of its best, though. It really brings out the t-amp's best qualities, imo.
Sure, it doesn't have the slam and control in the bass (although it is far from bad), and that is missed to a degree, but in every other way I don't miss the £6k rrp Chapter amp one little bit.
There's just something that sounds "right" about the Mini-T for me - it's the one piece of electronics (of all the many dozens I have owned) that is a pleasure to return to again and again - it makes me feel I am in the presence of live music making.

As you like the Mini-T so much (I like mine in my study system), perhaps you should seek out an ICEpower or Hypex power amp of greater potency?

Not pretty but I like the industrial-ness of it for sure! I like the well thoughtout design too with the heatsink in the centre with what looks like connection passing through the centre - guess the smaller section is for the amps, larger for the PSUs. The red screen print on the front is almost Bauhaus too (like Blaupunkt's original bauhaus design)
