Watched this yesterday... Not as bad as I'd suspected but not by a lot!! 3/5 maximum for this one!

Tonight it shall be Gravity in 3D and Dolby Atmos - Considering Mark Kermode has, for the first time ever said, 'This film is worth seeing in 3D', I'm expecting it to be something special. Rather excited about the audio side of things too. It's supposed to be a VERY good mix.

Its like watching a two D theatre made up of cut-out cardboard characters moving across a two dimensional back drop - weird, hardly 3D and not very natural at all.....



I went and saw Thor The Dark World in 3D and its not a bad film at all, quite good but the 3D ruined it in my opinion.

Gravity I will go see but I am with Martin on this one 2D only....... I want to keep the contents of my stomach in my stomach as that kind of 3D the cinema can do with out....

Indeed, the Sony Digital Cinema 4k system in my local cinemas has made a fantastic difference to the viewing experience. The crisp, detailed and stable pictures are a joy. 3D, on the other hand, is not enjoyable at all.

Yep have to agree with you again... I have only seen one film in 3D (which wasn't bad when I saw it at the Cinema) but since I have bought said film and played it on my average 42" plasma at home it was miles better!

Normally I would agree with you, but this was something else. Mark Kermode has always been staunchly against 3D, but go and have a look at this and it might convince you to see it in 3D:

It's an incredible film, a real masterpiece. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I won't go into any detail here, but this is the first film I've ever seen that is a true showcase of cinema technology as well as being a great film (unlike Avatar) and I can safely say that even the best home cinema will not even get close to recreating the experience of a good cinema. All I can say is find the very best cinema you can to get the most out of it. If you don't see it in 3D, you're missing out. The 5.1/7.1 audio mix is very good, but if you have the chance to see (hear) it in Dolby Atmos, it will absolutely blow you away. Sadly, the only places to hear it in Atmos in the UK at the moment are The Olympic Studio, Barnes in London, Vue cinema Cramlington and Vue Glasgow. Empire Leicester Square is currently closed for a re-fit.

Cannonball Run II

I started watching this last night but I ran out of beer and you can't really enjoy this film sober unless you are missing a chromosome.

Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Jnr - back in '84 I was fifteen and had no real idea who they were. Now it's amazing to think they were still running around in major motion pictures back then. Although DM looks a bit worse for wear Sammy is brilliant. Makes even the crappest gags funny.

And Barbara Bach....mmm....how you found out you weren't gay as a kid...
