Its one of the 1000's of dubious chinese/far eastern sites selling fake copies mainly of oyaide, no approvals, and even though they probably sell 1000's of plugs and IEC's worldwide I would never use any of this stuff as I have seen the videos of things setting on fire, not saying for a second this applies to the website in question but I for one would not touch it with a bargepole, as far as getting cable off them, no chance whatsoever.

If I were starting mains cabling from scratch I'd get a schuko mains block with a fused plug at the wall socket and that would alleviate the need for fused plugs to each bit of kit. The best fuse is no fuse. Reckon I'd get more improvements than cable upgrades.

This is exactly what I've done. It was hard to judge its impact as I threw a mains conditioner into the equation at the same time, but the overall upgrade was excellent. Really lowered the noise floor a great deal.

I and many of my audiophile friends use schukos throughout, you still need better wire though as just changing a standard kettle lead to a schuko would help but not by much.

This is an example of a better way to power your equipment, as described by doodoos, fused plug in the wall socket only then the rest schukos, perfectly safe and perfectly legal.

Aren't Schukos reversible, in other words there is no way of preserving live versus neutral?

That's correct Martin, depending on which way the schuko is plugged in reverses the Live and Neutral.

Safe and legal but likely to void your household insurance, so check before using any part that isn't BS kiteflagged. CE cert might not be enough here, they'll use any excuse to vwriggle out of a claim.

1000's of audiophiles already have insurance voiding parts in their homes, maybe even millions if you look on the DIY AUDIO forum, one of the chief engineers from the British Electrical Safety Council has gone on record as stating schuko plugs are fine as long as there is a fused uk mains plug from the wall socket which is precisely what I suggested

a quick check with a continuity tester before plugging the schuko plug in will tell you which way round to use it, simple!

I'm not sure about 'safe'... if the equipment on/off switch is wired to switch the live and maybe fused on the live side only reversing polarity could be an issue as the neutral would now be switched and un-fused with part of the input wiring and transformer primary permanently live and a therefore a potential hazard. It would depend heavily on how the appliance is wired. There are plenty of UK 'audiophile' extension leads available why take the risk.

The great British plug may have preserved live and neutral connections, but there are few devices these days which which do not have a double pole isolator on the power feed, which thereafter feeds the transformer.... Any not so manufactured will probably have "made in uk" stamped somewhere...

While there may be 'plenty of UK audiophile extension leads' the rest of Europe looks on questioningly at our quaint notions, whilst plugging in their standard Schuko plugs blissfully unaware of the potential hazard or risk...
