“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

That's cheap James a late one with IEC anorl..
I bought both my kids UDM-30s when they went to uni. They're brilliant little units, nice sounding and nicely built. Both suffered from the volume control problem which is caused by grease in what is actually a rotary encoder, not a pot. Taking the encoder apart and cleaning it takes about half an hour. No parts needed, just a clean cloth.
The original Denon matching speakers were made by Mission, but I don't know what these ones are. No experience of the cassette deck either, but Denon were always pretty good with cassettes.

Nicely done, James. If I'd had that, I could have cut it down to 15 minutes!

From my last era in the industry, the Denon/Mission SCM50 speakers had some bass projection, the 30's popping if you weren't careful. I forget the exact models, but the Mission 701? model also sounded great with the DM30 series.
By the way, these little units had a preamp output on them. Not sure how useful this could be since compactness was the reason why they were bought. Sonics were great as long as the speakers were efficient![]()
I can't go on and I can't go back, I don't feel so matter of fact,
I tried and tried to make good sense, What's the good to try it all again?
