10 enjoyable speakers you've owned

Not owned ten pairs of speakers, but 2nd favourite go to ProAc Resonse 2S, amazing speaker, but my fave up until this day is...........

Harbeth Compact 7ES2, a fantastic speaker- it must be l had it for yonks!

I also have not owned 10 pairs of speakers but have enjoyed all the ones I have bar 1

1. IMF ALS40 (Single speaker in mono as the other had blown!!)

2. Homemade 1970's Large Stand mount speakers (Ok sounding but crap design)

3. Wharfedale Diamond II (Brilliant little speakers that my parents bought me for my 14th Birthday)

4. Rega Kyte (I hated these speakers, bought them purely on reviews and it was a big mistake, utter tosh!)

5. Linn Nexus LS250 plus Ku-Stone stands (I loved these speakers, yes they were rather coloured but great with Pop and Rock music )

6. Epos ES14 plus dedicated stands (My first 'proper Hifi' speakers and still love and own them )

7. Wharfedale IV (Always harked after these but couldn't afford them so recently bought them for my second system

Very interesting

Personally I found the Rega Kyte speakers to be shrill and overly sibilant making them unbearable for longer listening sessions where as the Wharefedales (that they replaced) were a lot more laid back in their presentation...

What I forgot to mention was that I moved from Yamaha CR-600 (1970's receiver) powering the Wharfedale Diamond II speakers to an Audiolab 8000a amplifier powering the Rega Kytes... I am sure that would have undoubtedly contributed... the Audiolab whilst IMHO was a very good amplifier, it did tend to be a little bright when partnered with brighter ancillaries!

Well the Yamahas of that era can sound a little thin too, if you're not careful with what you match 'em up with

I found quite the reverse, certainly the CR-600 I thought was quite a warm sounding receiver in it's overall presentation... Certainly it didn't come close to the Audiolab 8000a in term of sheer musicality or soundstage but it was certainly a warmer sound...

I've heard them sounding exactly like that - not a problem I've ever had with my 1020. I suppose some people might call it too clean?

I would love to hear a 1020... they were the one to beat back then (from what my Dad has told me anyhow )

Whilst it may sound a little coincidental, my love for the warmer sounding Yamaha compared with the more clinical Audiolab led me to the Exposure path... they are a much warmer sounding beast but with all of the detail and then-some
