I'm afraid I'm also of a skeptical opinion regarding the cones in those positions and I'm afraid and I'm a total unbeliever in regards to wooden cable risers.. That's a lot of green to lay out. Be good to hear your report back once you have had a good listen. If I could make a suggestion, if you could do this over a relaxed time frame and live with them for a while I feel that would be more beneficial.

I have tried cones on cd players which sit on glass surfaces and found them to improve the stage, but place the player on a fully wooden surface and the result is negotiable to no difference.

Nice neat system though.

Placing oak cones under my CD player was the first tweak I did, many moons ago now.
My hifi was in my bedroom at the time, I remember receiving the cones in the post, putting them under the CD player and jumping back into bed. I hit play to a Stereophonics album, I jumped up in bed and couldn't believe what I heard.
Maybe it was just me but the difference was there to hear.
My big OB speaker have always sat on coasters on carpet. Last year I put them on oak cones on carpet and everything tightened up and opened up.
You don't have to buy the cones from RA they are a lot cheaper from ebay

Hi James I did spot the ones on ebay and was going to get them but I think I would of always wondered if the RAs ones would have been better, then knowing me I would still ended up getting them too

They are both Oak and cones - won't be much difference. These basically have the same effect as spikes but less ringing if you have glass shelves. If you upgrade your coax a Mark Grant HD1000 does a fine job. I can't see any more expensive making much difference as you are just transferring a digital signal. RA just charges about 10 times what it costs him. He tried to buy speaker stands from a guy who sells on Ebay at around £150 and was aiming to resell for £800.

Cool man, take your time with them but I really would suggest to save your money and get the ones on ebay.. As Paul said matey... Oak is Oak. Unless he's developed a new kind of Oak of course... lol

I have a load of oak in my woodpile. And a lathe!!

A normal set of four round things would probably be about £20 but if you want audiophile quality, its £100

I can see the wanting to gut nice stuff for the hi-fi but I just can't understand why anyone would want to pay rip off prices for something any half decent turner could do blindfold.

PS. I reckon the cost price of each foot would be about £1. That includes materials, electricity, time and deterioration of tools. Each one would take me about two minutes. There must be woodturners in yellow pages.
