To be honest, although I have been a LP12 owner for years, unlike some, I still have not become a devotional fanatic who blindingly believes that LP12 is the best and only turntable I should rely on and disapprove of or simply ignore the others’ existence. We always have a different perception or believing that we cannot agree with each other so sometimes it is best not to provoke any altercations unnecessarily in case one may hurt the others’ feelings.

I always loved the brutal look of those Mitsubishi power amps & the way that you could buy a docking fascia panel with meters on it as an optional extra.

How does it sound?

Digital equipment isn't controversial in my book. Buying a Music PC and connecting to my DAC was one of the best things I done.

It looks brutal but, I am afraid, does not have the absolute transparency, power, impacts and control that rival a Krell or Mark Levision. It is actually a bit sweet and soft sounding to me.

On the surface of it, I have an array of turntables and should be considered a typical analogue guy who would reject any digital kit as in theory, but they are both serving me happily in a perfect harmony. Of course, I tend to listen to records more than CDs.

I'd be interested to know your opinion of the Yaqin phono amp. Did you have any problems with it or make any changes to it?

Hi John,

The Yaqin is an excellent MM phono amp in my own opinion, transparent and musical. I have not done anything to it except some tubes rolling and so far I've had no issues with it at all.

King, I think Yaqin make some fab products. As you probably know, they're a recognised 'high-end' manufacturer in China, and you can tell by the build quality and attention to detail of their equipment

Do you find it always safe for use with UK voltage, though? That's the only problem I've found.
