World War Z



I went to the pictures today and I was unsure what to expect - not a big Brad Pitt lover here - but over all I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the film. Plenty of action and wow moments but mostly kept within a realistic real world frame work, so no crazy super hero moments from normal people.

The films making was troubled with quite a few issues but despite that it is in my view a good film worth the price of admission.

As a side note in parts I thought it offered a good visualisation of some of what I had read in the book Coldbrook by Tim Lebbon which would make a cracking film if done right.

Catching that this weekind Neil, as well as Man of Steel tommorow.
Imax 3D, big Supe's fan here since I was a kid so really looking forward to that.
Hopefully better than the disappointing Superman Returns.

World War Z looks good, from the trailers not so much a zombie splatter-fest but maybe a more considered action type movie?
Loved the Max Brooks book, but imagine its very different from that.

Also, a chunk of the film was made in Glasgow and I saw some of the filming!

I liked Superman Returns - I though Kevin Spacey quite good as Lex Luthor. I see that film as continuing the Christopher Reeves period vibe but done well. The new movie has had mixed reviews so I am looking forward to reading what you think of it.

I haven't read the Max Books book so approached it with an open mind except for Brad's presence in the film which very nearly put me off going.

Just watched Cloud Atlas and I am speechless - amazing film, which I will have to watch several times as its like an onion with many layers to it.

I've just received my Blu-ray of Cloud Atlas, Neil. It had the same impact on me at the cinema, the film rolling through my mind for several days after. I decided it was the film of the decade and can't see it easily being beaten! I'm really looking forward to watching it again.
