Yep, I think that's what I meant by "better defined" - so we are pretty much in 100% agreement, I think.

I have oak cones under everything, to me it makes the bass more defined and the top end sparkles. The best effect is that instruments just seem to hang in mid air.

Be careful about blocking ventilation holes on the bottom of any amps - that might overheat them.

I've got RDC cones of varying types and combinations under everything in the system, except speakers.

When I had bookshelves, I put their spikes under the stand wow, what a difference! That was the single thing that really got me into trying other tweaks it worked so well! It'll be interesting to see what you find, Martin.

Well, well - a "Sound Dead" steel platter has somehow made its way onto my Techie SL-150ii.



Quite a change in approach from the lossy mats I have been using with great success.
At first blush this is a very appealing sound - clearer with more solid imaging, a bit faster, but maybe a little 2D?
Lots more listening to do.

At the moment it's just plunked down onto the bare platter - might be interesting to try a lossy mat underneath it ...
