The best rig I owned for clarity, punch and bleedover rejection was a plain vanilla 40ch Harrier CB bought new from Dixons for £49.99. That 'rig' was quite highly rated, if I remember... With that, I used a 10ft 'silver rod', with a 80W Zetagi 'burner' (signal booster).
As we lived on the top of a hill, my signal was so powerful my voice used to come booming through people's TVs, all around me and down into the village below, and could be heard for miles!

The reception I got was so good that I could 'DX' to guys abroad, in the likes of France and Italy (this was from Glasgow), when the 'skip' conditions were right! It was called 'skiptalking'. Did you ever do that?

This was my fave CB radio Marco. As I said, very plain Jane to look at but the money was spent on the innards. It was a terrific performer
