Kind of a 'thick' sound, but listenable, and very fine performances.

I was listening to another version of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto (with Oistrakh) just the other day. Quite liked it.

Wyn Morris is a much underrated conductor, imo.

His Beethoven cycle -including the 10th! - is excellent.

The 5th here is quite fast and very energetic and propulsive. And he gets a massive sound out of the LSO.

Listening as I type, on LP via my luvvly Shure V15iii, for the 2nd time on the trot - the symphony is superb. Walton's 1st doesn't have it all its own way by any means!
