.... However, the Krell KAV250a is a totally different story - it sounded much more natural than the A21 did. Easily the best power amp I have heard with the MBLs - including my own 211 monoblocks. However, I reckon that McCormack CDP is damned fine as is the Tisbury. You just don't get results as good as I heard yesterday with something naff in the chain.

Anyway back to Jerry's system - if I couldn't run my Apogee Duetta Sigs I'd probably track down some 116Fs. Yesterday they just did everything brilliantly. Which worries me as I have never liked Krells. I heard a KSA 300 a couple of weeks before driving some Ushers. I suspect it is even better than the KAV250 TBH. That plus 116Fs could be truly awesome!

Hmmm, yup. I agree that the Krell is a better amp than the Parasound, although I did enjoy that.

A bigger Krell is on my To Do list, given the success of the 250a. But I think they do have a somewhat darker sound ... ? .... albeit more sophisticated. And they cost multiples of what the 250a set me back.
The box swapper's maxim is "there is ALWAYS something better, or at least interestingly different" - it wouldn't be fun otherwise!

More on the "never liked Krells". A KSA50 was rubbish driving my Duettas. I'm sure a good valve pre would have helped in that situation. Also, at shows they nearly always seem to be driving Wilsons. That never works IMHO - much prefer Wilsons with big ARCs.

Hmm, I think I like things more on the brightly lit and lively side! -- has anyone got a Big Krell they'd like to hoik over to the lovely Forest of Dean in deepest Gloucestershire to hear what it sounds like with some very fine MBL speakers?!

The Ortofon MC 25FL has many admirers (me included), and I would have one were it not for my collection of other, and possible better, Ortofons.
