Really enjoying Monteverdi Choir - Pilgramage to Santiago (http://www.monteverdi.co.uk/shop/alb...ago/pilgrimage, particularly the wonderful rendition of Jean Mouton's Nesciens Mater.
Couldn't get the payment through on the above site so bought from Presto instead.

Was it Vierne's music or Jeremy Filsell's playing that sent you to sleep Jerry?
I've a recording by Filsell playing transcriptions of improvisations by Cochereau that's quite stunning (mostly!) . . .

This CD is so much more interesting, involving and (perhaps superficially) impressive.
It's what got me interested in investigating the whole Vierne organ symphony repertoire.
I'm now happy to just keep to this one CD!

More Pfitzner - are you looking for symphonies that are a riot of exuberance and excitement? Then look elsewhere.That can be great fun, but these are more subtle and nuanced and, well, quieter and more thoughtful. I've a nice feeling that these works will amply repay further listening.
