The opening bars of Salzedo's Divertimento Op.49 provided the Open University's TV ident music back in the day. Having done quite a few OU modules, mainly for interest, the music is etched into my brain . .

There are many very fine recordings of this symphony, but this one is laugh-out-loud exhilarating. After a very slow and portentous intro to the 1st mvt, the performance explodes into life!
Fantastic (mid-70s) recording by the legendary Aubort/Nickrenz duo. Very dynamic and fast, very transparent - it suits the performance to a T!
This really is a must-have for any fan of Schubert 9th, imo.
A long-time fave of mine - desert island fare - only can I have Krips/LSO as well?

Bach - Mass in B Minor, Gardiner, Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists, Archiv [2 cd]
A gorgeous work and performance. Everything that you know about Bach, all his tell-tale signature moments, are present and correct. Lovely.
