Excellent modern music - I really enjoyed this choral symphony!



Yummy - Tubin was a mighty fine symphonist!

Beethoven - Symphony No. 10, 1st Movement [cd single]

Tee hee, this'll get you scratching your heads

Nah - that CD single has been in my collection for decades!

Have you tried others in Wyn Morris's Beethoven cycle? - they really are excellent 'middle of the road' interpretations and have excellent sound quality.

The Jommelli piece, the main and longest work on this CD at 36 minutes is frankly awful.

The Stabat Mater by Giovanni Sances also on the CD is a mere 12 minutes long and is astronishingly beautiful.



And a thoroughly enjoyable CD of English harpsichord music - great music by Purcell, Croft and Blow - but the standout work is by one Thomas Chilcot, who I hadn't even heard of before!

Hi Martin, I mean I transferred the LP onto CD..., afaik and regrettably it never made its way onto digital.

Interesting - a 7 mvt, 70 minute symphony. Well worth exploring at Naxos' low price! Quite a decent recording, too.



Great fun! -- probably my fave Patience, on DVD.



Lekeu - the poor bugger died when he was 24 from typhoid in 1894 - but he was a major talent!

Mmmm - fascinating music - reasonably tonal, nice percussion/drums in places in the symphonies - excellent sq.
I especially like the horn concerto.

I have to concur: beautifully addictive, like that of Franz Schreker but in other order of things...
I have the Okko Kamu version on BIS, and on top of a thoughtful interpretation, the sound is magnificent.
