The three I'm most interested in are the Beethoven (with pink cover) third from the top, the (Mozart?) with the green cover, last on the second row, and the Walton, last on the third row.

OK - I'll let you know Marco - but I'll certainly be keeping the Walton LP!
The LP with the green cover and the photo of the old geezer (is that the one you mean?) is in fact old 'historical' (i.e. bad!) recordings from the 1930s of Bach organ pieces played by Albert Scwheitzer -- in EMI's Great Recordings of the Century series.
See something about Schweitzer here, Marco - I think you'll find it quite interesting.

Bach on the Harpsichord
I usually listen to piano recordings of Bach's keyboard music, but the excellence of some harpsichord recordings that have come out in recent years has made me think again. I've just got Pieter-Jan Belder's recording of both books of the Well Tempered Clavier and I must admit I'm impressed.
An added bonus is that, since it's on Brilliant Classics, it's very cheap!

I caught a bit of a Radio 3 relay of Handel's Julius Caesar on Saturday evening; I thought the singers were struggling a bit, so I turned to Rene Jacob's recording. One act a day from yesterday onwards!

This past week I've been delving into a box set of LPs that hasn't seen the light of day for years (decades?): Boult's EMI recordings of the Vaughan Williams' Symphonies:

I had a couple of the symphonies on individual discs when this set came out in 1972, and I remember going into Gramex in London with them and coming out with this box - then the pride of my collection (still is in some ways).
They always sounded good, but it was quite a surprise to me how good. My vinyl replay got a definite shot in the arm with the Graham Slee Reflex phono amp I bought earlier this year, and these Kingsway Hall recordings have a warmth and depth along with a pleasing bite to the brass that make them so listenable. Plus of course Boult's readings are pretty authoritative, given his history with both RVW and the music.
This set will remain dusted off, I think.
