Technics/Jelco DIY arm mount

I made an arm mounting for my new Jelco SA-750D arm in an SL1210 using a plate from a knackered old Technics arm.
Once I had removed the arm plate and cleaned it up it looked as good as new. I turned a piece of rosewood to be a close fit in the hole, and with a slight lip on top so that it would rest flat on the plate. (Pic 1).
I epoxy glued the rosewood in the hole and drilled the hole for the central arm pillar with a Forstner bit. I then drilled the holes for the three bolts. (Pic 2).
Screwed and bolted everything back together - ready to groove! (Pic 3). (Well, nearly ready - I hadn't set vtf and bias when I took the pic.)

Finally, an upgrade that I might be able to pull off myself. That is really, really nice! How did you decide to use rosewood or do you think that the type of wood makes that much difference?
