I really dislike it when others are late and don't even bother to acknowledge it. Very rude IMHO
I would agree with that in general Alex. I’m very rarely late these days mainly because I keep a realistic schedule.
I particularly dislike it if I’ve been cooking for a couple of hours and my dinner guests are late.

I just noticed on your signature John, that the disblock that you use is custard wired - what benefits would you say that gives your system over something like standard angel delight wiring? Has it ever given you better definition on your spotted dick?

Spotted dick? Not really. But then it's not something I keep an eye out for, to be honest.

Now that’s a very good question Chris and a topic that has produced some polarisation of opinion in the many threads pertaining to it.

Tbh the first thing that needs to be established is just how spotty your dick is, before you start lashing out in rather expensive custard wiring as opposed to the common packet angle delight.
My dick was nearly spotty enough.

After seeking expert advice from the local snake oil vendor (Subject and Subjectivists and Son) and having him come for a rather pleasant bake off where he not only demonstrated the most noticeable superiority of his free range egg custard but was also able to demonstrate to my entire satisfaction that his use of carefully selected ingredients enabled him to produce perfect hard custard quicker than I could whisk Angle Delight to a similar consistency.
Needless to say I was extremely impressed, my mouth falling open along with my wallet.

Naturally enough I was rather keen to know exactly what benefits such an approach would have for my spotted dick. Would it I wondered give me cleaner currants, maybe even more currants?

Well I’m very pleased to report that I got an order of magnitude more currants in my spotted dick using the superior free range egg based hard custard.

Of course, these findings may not be the same for everyone with this problem. One would of course need a discriminating pallet to be able to discern the difference.

Imo, you still can't beat baking your own, but I appreciate not everyone has the necessary skills.

A cautionary tale for those who might be tempted to save a few quid by buying Instant Custard to wire up their disblock to their Spotted Dick... DONT!!! Your 'Dick' will droop under the strain.

1: Sure, it is quick but it certainly isn't 'instant'.

2: When first installed it has a higher currant rating than the very best custard wiring money can buy, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, very soon after installation the consistency deteriorates and goes all wishy washy and as a result the amount of currant it can support falls drastically.

3: Admittedly there is less colouration when using Instant Custard but that isn't necessarily a good thing as I find the product injects a harder, less natural flavour into the mix...

    Sorry Martin.

It sort of slithered from bent sundials. I'm going to blame Chris for the custard though.

Sorry for the smut. But being exposed to Benny Hill at an early age, it tends to scar you for life.
