Bargains on ebay?

THIS is without any doubt my choice for king of all ghetto blasters. My second choice would be its smaller brother, the GF-555.
I remember them fondly from my misspent days in the 80's.

Not been on eBay for a while - what's with their new catagory configuration?

So now tonearms for example aren't anywhere near the turntables - there's a tv & home audio parts section completely seperate from the rest of the home hifi and all lumped together with spare tv circuits - and stands are again in a separate place called TV & Home Audio Accessories, lumped in with TV stands...



Professional section has gone from consumer electronics too so now people have to work out whether some audio kit from a TV studio belongs to the musical instrument section ( a daftly named catagory itself to include studio equipment - "and on lead compressor is Tara Joccovic" ) or whatever...

Still, the confusion could lead to some good mis-classifications and hence bargains - so start trawling (but keep them to yourself or ruin the chance of a bargain) !

It's quite simple. By having more sections ebay is able to fleece you a lot more if you are a seller. In order to increase the likelihood of your item coming up in a category you have to list it in several different categories.

Not just that Stan, but they have put up the final value fees on a lot of electrical stuff from 5% to 10%

Annoying, isn't it? They have the monopoly and I don't mind any business making their money for the enterprise they have shown but by the time you pay eBay and PayPal fees you really do start to feel fleeced.

A lot of businesses would be happy to make a 10% profit on any sales these days. If you add the Paypal fee, the total made by the ebay empire is around 13 to 15%. That's even more of a profit margin many, including me, would be quite happy with these days. Taking into account that eBay pays no VAT on their profit, they are really skimming it.
