Interesting T/t, but saw too many faulty new ones to be tempted. Don't think they sounded that great either.

Yes the LS3\5a's are very good for nearfield listening.Hi Andy,
I agree, although I also love (good) LS3/5as, for different reasons. I've always fancied a pair of 1960s Maxims, and will likely get some for the forthcoming kitchen project, as I can't think of anything more ideal for the job!

My latest retro speakers are not exactly mini monitors suitable for a kitchen although they would fit into the original one in my house that we now use as a breakfast room, the kitchen is now in the old scullery.
A few mates have now heard them and like me are gobsmacked how good they are. There's a pair of really special amps currently in transit to me that are perfect for them.
