Monsters - 2010
It is indeed and not what I was expecting at all Martin. I think I put it on my Tesco DVD list after you mentioned it, a minor classic is right and I'm going to watch it again tonight for the third time! I particularly liked the very subtle and detached inclusion of 'the creatures', building the atmosphere around them as opposed to a full visual CGI onslaught, which would have ruined the film IMO. But the icing on the cake for me was the Jon Hopkins soundtrack, which is the same Jon Hopkins of King Creosote and Diamond Mine fame, an album I love - absolutely superb music which goes a long way to building the tension and it has prompted some further research into his repertoire. I think you can only get the soundtrack as a download, but it's MP3 or WAV

Main actors..... did you watch any of the bonus material Martin? I'm just watching it now and can't believe how well they have pulled it all off with just 4 crew and 2 actors. Edwards wrote, directed, filmed and produced the CGI himself, everyone else you see in the film are ordinary people they found on location and got to play a part - guerilla filmmaking at it's very, very best. I won't say much more in case anyone wants to watch it - just view it with an open mind and don't have any expectations, you might be surprised by it for a low budget film

That trailer doesn't really do the film justice. Its not a monster film, it's a love story - with the most superbly realised backdrop in a very long time. Unique. Watch it!

Yes, I got to see the whole lot to Superb!

Only problem is I thought I'd be ok going to sleep without sleeping pills, only over the counter ones from the chemist... Big mistake Tossing & turning all night

Hopefully I'll be too wacked out & get some sleep tonight

Classic film for me this evening - The Forbidden Planet

Might knock myself out with one pill rather than two

Just watched a recording of the 1955 film Pather Panchali by Satyajit Ray.

Filmed in glorious back and white and following the Italian neorealist school of cinematography, this is a film everyone should see at least once in their life.
