Beautiful looking speakers.
Beautiful looking speakers.
What speaker cable is that Clive?
Thanks Mark! They look great and rather better than the OB Jamo's IMO.
Ali, the cable you're probably asking about is a Bastanis cable, silver wire with foil. The other cable is Nordost Blue Heaven, which I had hanging around. I'm trying the Nordost using the logic that the reason I don't like it as a full range cable may work in it's favour on the bass (ie tight bass, but not enough of it - this I can tune with the amps).

I'm gone.
Those speaker 'cabinets', well, OK, frames, are beautifully executed. Very nice indeed.
A very fast and open sound, I'll bet - I'm sure I'd love it!

Hi Clive.
I have totally missed this thread. But it was really interesting to read how your Bastanis OB speaker system has been evolving, truly enjoyed reading this through
.
My problem has been that more transparent rest of my system gets, less happy I have become with the sub 100Hz frequencies with my Bastanis Mandala Atlas set up. My plan was to try some tapped horns with the 15" sealed woofers I have now, but your set up has given me a another option. I was really fascinated to read that you actually prefer the double 15" bass OB woofer set up to your old 18" dipole set up, really interesting.
Great pictures![]()

Hi Juha
I heard these speakers in Vic set up and they are exactly the same design and they are stunning
They totally overcome the upper bass issues that were present before, also the open back design seems to help with room intergration issues as Clive pointed out a lot less need for bass treatment. They also go down quite low Clive might be able to measure how low.
