From what I've read Mark it is a stonkingly good CDP as well, how does it compare to your Krell?

The Krell with the extra bits beats it on CD playback, but for the money there is nothing to touch this thing Dave, well nothing I have ever come accross

Doesn't matter what I spin, either audio or AV I'm constantly amazed & impressed at what it does...

You need to come round & watch Avatar again m8, I'm not joking It's now out of this world!

Who are Oppo? Where is the player made and is it an OEM machine?

American I think Martin, as for the rest of it I don't know, sorry chap

I could be out by a country mile again though

I just thought of another test for this thing... About to spin a BBC 1080i blu ray (even though I really don't want to stop this disc)

    Oppo are a Swedish company.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.

Thanks, Martin, that's better info. Now then, I wonder who manufactures it because I'd lay money it's not built in Sweden.

I would love one of these but I am tight and a grand is just too steep for me. A pal of mine has their original universal player (no blu-ray) and I have been trying to buy it from him for years (you just do not see them second hand) as he only uses it to play DVD - but he won't sell

It is fantastic CD player and with SACD and DVD-A it is awesome - Gaucho on DVD-A! - my jaw hit the floor on the opening bars, no kidding. Sounds like the new version is at least its equal

Gaucho on anything is superb. I have the CD and SACD but the vinyl whips them both.
