Took a notion to watch Quatermas and the Pit tonight and imho it is one of the finest science fiction/horror films ever made. Good acting, brilliant special effects for the time and they still look pretty good today, nice music as well and the ending where Quatermas and Barbara stand as the music plays, London burns and the credits roll is a powerful ending; as they both look like they have been through hell and back, as they have, within the context of the film.

I would also say imho that this is probably the best film to come out of the Hammer studios as well. If you haven't seen this film then you are in for a treat.

Yes i have the very same by the sound of it Andr'e Both seasons, each in a box & with 4 seperate DVD cases in each

Mark - since my very first DVD player (a Pioneer DV-505), I've been multi-region. No-one is going to stop me playing DVDs and BDs I buy in the USA.

Oh i agree wholeheartedly, I have also gone multi-region since my first DVD player (Panasonic DVD-RA71) Most people don't appear to know about multi-region mods to BD players though I have picked up region A disks for 99p + the usual £1.25 postage on ebay

Me too, but sometimes I forget and take a BD to my girlfriend's only for us to realise it won't play

Ok, lets see me disagree with the ratings on this site once again

Not the best film ever, but fun:- Dropzone.. Region A locked...

Beats the pants off of the DVD for sure

E2A:- Having watched the whole film I am once again dumbfounded at the reviewers marking this down for video quality There were one or two instances of a good bit of grain, but other than that detail was superb, there were no problems with noise or other nasties. Colour was wonderfully natural, there was no problem with contrast, line delination or black crush

I take reviews on bluray.com with a pinch of salt ever since War Of The Worlds (Speilberg) got a 5* rating for video

Old films like Kelly's Heroes look better imho, this one was also very good indeed & I'd give it a 4* rating for video quality. I watched it on my 21/9 TV which upscales the picture to 2560 x 1080 (2.39-1 picture) so i should have seen more problematic areas than on a standard 1080P screen. It was great though...

Don't trust the reviewers, watch it yourself & make up your own mind
