Yup - capital letters denote shouting (and aggression) on 'message boards', as does the excessive use of exclamation marks. The trick is to use them sparingly, when you really want to emphasise something!!!! (Just like that).

Anyway could you please explain how to split quotes to answer each section separately it makes more sense that way

Just simply ensure that the text you wish to quote is enclosed within ["quote"]["/quote"], minus the actual quotation marks - simples!

I'm very thick-skinned (you get that way in my business), so I've always taken the HFWW "style" with a hefty dose of salt. There are some very knowledgeable people on there, and I've gained useful intel. I avoid the typical objectivist/subjectivist "cable wars" conversations there because, frankly, you're never going to change entrenched opinions so why bother? I've met some great folk from the site when buying/selling, and at Scalford: I'm happy to see it continue. I can't be arsed worrying about the keyboard warriors - that's just a trait of (most) forums. I refuse to take them too seriously - it's only hifi 'n' stuff.

I like pfm and this place too, and indeed, quite a few on here are happy to spend time in the other forums too. What I like most is that each of the three have very individual characteristics; they can all be good fun in different ways - and I've met a lot a positively charming people in the process.

Just to pick up on something Tony L has written on the concurrent thread on pfm:

I don't think it's at all appropriate for us to dissect matters on WigWam here, I've found some of the content elsewhere on the web decidedly tacky to be honest, and I'd certainly like to keep pfm far above that level. As far as I'm concerned some of pfm's friends (most of whom are members here anyway) hit a rocky patch and we did what we could to help them though it.

That's exactly how I see it too, and we've certainly done what we could to help, by having provided a contact point for exiled Wammers (just as pfm did), whilst the PM facility on Wigwam was inaccessible, when James temporarily pulled the plug.

I'm not sure if Tony is referring to comments here or not, regarding his "tacky" remark....

However, I don't see any harm in identifying potential areas of concern on Wigwam, and offering constructive and well-intended advice on how perhaps to solve problems, with the view of preventing them happening again in future.

I don't believe in unnecessary censorship, so people should be free to express themselves and discuss things, providing that in doing so, their motive complies with the sentiments expressed above.

Aside from a few inflammatory remarks, which I've removed, that is certainly what's been happening here

I think that's the problem with 'in jokes' on forums, which only the regulars will appreciate and relate to.

It's the same here with me when I refer to 'shlipping into a wee frock', or whatever - I'm not REALLY doing it (well, at least only on a Sunday ) - it is simply something I enjoy laughing at with those who I know also find it funny!

That aside, I do understand where you're coming from, but can we please concentrate less on past events on Wigwam involving you, and more on the present situation, and how we can help matters.

For instance, what's your view on the question I asked Alfie? Why is Wigwam, the forum, so different in its outlook and vibe from Wigwam in its bake-off format, such as at Scalford Hall?

Because Chestergroup picked up the idea from my posts and emailed the main forum owners to see if they wanted to be involved, only Wigwam were interested. But Chestergroup knowing perfectly well what that forum was like laid down a set of rules. Because of that I came in as trade to sponsor it 2nd year because Chestergroup were going to pull out if trade didn't get involved (the only one apart from records and accessories in the hall) because I felt responsible having run the idea in the first place. So *under instruction* everyone played the game in a professional manner, this seems to have rubbed off on the event. If they had thought up the idea and organised it themselves from the start can you imagine what a dissing fest it would have turned into. It may be called the Wam Show now but the Chestergroup influence from the first two is still there. We will see how long it lasts.

Interesting answer, Richard. I suspect that there is an element of truth in that, although I think you're being rather unfair on the effort James and the Wigwam mods and members have put into making this year's show such a success.

If things were genuinely as bad as you say, I'd have seen evidence of this myself when I was at Scalford Hall in March. However, nothing could be further from the truth - the vibe was fantastic, and as friendly as a very friendly thing, so kudos where kudos is due!

Personally, I think it's more to do with certain regulars using the forum as their own personal playground and therapy centre, rather than for its intended purpose, because they can get away with such bravado behind a keyboard, yet acting as normal human beings (their true selves) in 'real life'.

If they could act the same way towards each other on the forum, as they do at Scalford Hall, then 90% of the challenges currently facing Wigwam would be wiped out in an instant.
